Of course this is a beloved piece of music, so the important part was to be as respectful to the original as possible. I had just moved to the countryside and the moon was full, so I wrote the lyrics at night. I spent a lot of time thinking about how the piece was first written, and how intimate and soothing a moonlit night becomes. Hotei was incredibly open to ideas and fun to work with, I'd just sang on his new album Paradox, and he played guitar on my album Blood Red Sun, so I already knew how easy going and experimental he is. He also helped me with my Japanese! I was honoured to participate and I'm looking forward to watching the show." ＜日本語訳＞ このプロジェクトに参加することは、チャレンジではあったけれど楽しかったわ。もちろん、このオリジナル曲は多くの人々に愛されてきた曲。だからこそ出来るかぎりの敬意を込めることが大切だと感じたの。最近、私は郊外に移り住み、そこでは大きな満月を見ることが出来る。今回の詩は、当時の月明かりがどんなに優しく夜を包んでいたか、思いを馳せながら書くことが出来たわ。 布袋さんは驚くほど新しいアイディアを受け入れる柔軟性を持っていて、一緒に作業するのが楽しい人。 ちょうど私が布袋さんの最新アルバム「Paradox」で歌い、彼が私のアルバム「Blood Red Sun」でギターを弾いてくれた直後だったこともあり、彼がどんなに気さくで、実験的なアートに精通しているか、知っていたの。そして今回は私の日本語の先生にもなってくれたわ！ 今回は参加することが出来て、とても光栄でした！このエピソードを見るのを楽しみにしています。 ©BNP/NHK･NEP
